Simplicity Regent Review Of My Simplicity Regent Tractor
I bought my Simplicity Regent in May 2007 to mow my .46 acre lawn. I was replacing a 30" Murray Yard King rear engine rider. I was originally looking at the Simplicity Coronet because I liked using a rear engine rider. I was going to buy a 34 inch Coronet with the dual blades. Much to my surprise the Coronet was $2600 vs $2299 for the Regent. I hadn't considered a tractor as I have limited storage space and wanted to transport the mower easily in my truck. After a long discussion with the sales rep I decided on the Simplicity Regent with the 38" deck and the 20 HP V-Twin Briggs & Stratton motor. Total cost was $2400 with 6 months no interest.

Right Side Of My Simplicity Regent
The 38" deck was perfect for me. I could load and unload the Regent tractor from my Chevy Silverado 1500 and it fits perfectly through the gate in my fence. One thing about the roller is that though you may raise the deck the roller doesn't raise and so I found boards necessary to ease the tractor into my shed. The hydrostatic transmission on the Simplicity Regent works really well. I can get really close to things and go as fast or as slow as I want. The override lets me mow in reverse which is very helpful. The 20" HP V-Twin motor is quiet and provides plenty of power. Other options for the Simplicity Regent are a 44" or 50" deck with motors with more HP. The cut from the dual blade mower deck is excellent as expected. Even when i'm in a hurry and blast around the yard I get a pretty good cut even without a mulch kit. When i'm not in a hurry I can lower the blade to 1 or 1.5 and go in opposite directions and get a very manicured looking cut. Still saving tons of time over my 30" rider or 22" push mower. With my single blade rider I had to bag to get a good cut. The Simplicity Regent with a side discharge does as good a job or better especially with the roller bending the grass in opposite directions. Baseball strips take a bit of practice but I was soon figuring out good ways to ensure I alternated my cut direction. Hopefully this review helps you if you want to buy a Simplicity Mower.
